Smoking Cannabis

Adults who consume cannabis are most likely to smoke it, according to the US Centers for Disease Control (CDC.)

Due to the availability of accessories and devices, and ease of use, it comes as no surprise that the most popular way to consume cannabis is by smoking.

There are several ways to smoke marijuana, whether its social interaction surrounding a hookah, or a quick smoke with a pipe.

Smoking marijuana is one of the oldest methods in the books and is a preferred method of many, due to the convenient delivery method and quick onset of effects.

While you may find, or hear of concerns in smoking marijuana, a study published in 2012 in The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) offered good news for people who smoke marijuana.

The study suggested that smoking marijuana in moderation may actually improve lung function. The theory behind this finding relates to the deep, sucking inhalation, which may stretch lung tissue to expand lung volume. It may also strengthen the muscles of the chest wall, allowing marijuana users to inhale and exhale air more forcefully.

It would be an exaggeration to say this study proves that smoking marijuana is good for your lungs. However, this does offer some assurance to people who smoke marijuana due to its’ convenience and quick onset of effects.
