Budbugs

Anyone who has ever grown plants, particularly profitable plants, or those that produce, know that many of them require a lot of patience, effort and time. That said, you can imagine the disappointment when pests destroy cannabis.

There is a long line of common pests that would like nothing more than to munch on cannabis. The most frequent offenders include:

· Aphids

· Fungus gnats

· Mealybugs

· Spider mites

· Whitefly

Use of commercial pesticides is one of the easiest ways to combat cannabis pests. However, in using these chemicals, trace amounts may be left on buds and will spoil their flavor.

This is where beneficial insects enter the picture. Beneficial insects provide a safe and eco-friendly way to keep pests under control. Certain species of these beneficial insects may also provide soil quality advantages reducing the need for added extra nutrients throughout the grow cycle.

Beneficial insects include:

· Earthworms

· Green Lacewings

· Ladybugs

· Praying Mantis

· Rove Beetles

· And many more…

Due to the high concentration of terpenes, cannabis plants exhibit some natural resistance to pests, however, they are not entirely immune.

Some Creepy-crawlies are among the most helpful partners found at Southern Oregon Cannabis. Although some of the creatures on our list aren’t actually insects, they all have unique benefits providing not only SOC with great results, but our customers too.
